Installing and running ZenLoo
Who can install ZenLoo?
Any builder or carpenter, following our installation guide. No specialist installer or plumber is needed.
What happens in the off-season?
Nothing. ZenLoo needs no maintenance when it’s not in use, and you only pay for liners and collections when it is.
Do I need gloves to service it?
Usually not. For the rare fix, such as a punctured liner, wear gloves as you would for cleaning any bathroom.
Guests
Do guests need to use ZenLoo differently?
No. There’s no sawdust, no special place to pee and toilet paper is fine. Guests just flush and forget.
How do I explain the toilet to guests?
We supply recommended guest instructions with the installation guide. They cover simple points, such as not flushing large objects or cigarettes.
Can guests flush sanitary products?
Yes. Menstrual products are no problem for ZenLoo.
What if a guest flushes something by mistake?
Items such as a phone or ring can be retrieved using the reverse button.
How do I stop guests pressing the wrong buttons?
Install the toilet so guests can’t easily reach the control panel, or cover the reverse button with a white sticker.
How ZenLoo is different
Is ZenLoo like a nappy bin?
No. Nappy bins twist film around each nappy. ZenLoo uses a patented sealing mechanism under the bowl that creates a continuous airlock between the user and the stored waste. Users describe it as on par with a water flush toilet.
How is ZenLoo different from Laveo Dry Flush?
Both seal waste in film, but they suit different sites. A ZenLoo liner gives around 120 uses at roughly 5p per use, while a Laveo Dry Flush cartridge gives about 20. That makes Laveo better suited to short trips or occasional use, and ZenLoo to busier sites such as glamping.
Is ZenLoo a compost toilet?
No. It’s a waterless flushing toilet, with no sawdust, no compost and no visible waste. See how ZenLoo compares.
